Amanda Nicole Fears

Dr. Amanda Nicole Fears, of Watertown, MA, passed unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

She was born in Poplar Bluff, MO on June 13, 1982.  She graduated with honors from Poplar Bluff Senior High School.  During her high school years she was an avid softball player and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Claudia Girls Foundation, District President of United Methodist Youth and volunteered regularly at the local homeless shelter. Throughout her life, following medical school and her move to Boston, she was a great Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and Boston Red Sox fan.

She graduated from the six year accelerated medical program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine with a doctorate and later specialized in Psychiatry and Neurology.  She previously worked at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Amanda was a devout Christian and attended Grace Episcopal Church in Newton, MA.  She had a lifelong love of books and was a voracious reader.  In addition to being a member of The Book Club in Boston, she spoke fluent French, enjoyed traveling extensively, outdoor grilling and hosting parties for her many friends.  She adored animals and has owned everything from hamsters, iguanas and fish, to birds and rescued cats.

Amanda is the daughter of Brook Fears and the late Dennis Fears. She leaves behind Amanda Smith, partner of 8 years, two brothers; Adam Fears (Jenny) and children, Grayson and Adlee, all of Poplar Bluff and Jared Fears (Alyssa) and children, Zoe and Teagan, all of Burnsville, MN, as well as many much loved aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved cat, Luc.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandmothers Bernice Fears and Dorothy Zahner.
