Victoria Ann (Pennell) Ross, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed Sunday, April 7, 2024, in her home. She was healthy, active, and had no medical conditions until a silent, unexpected heart attack.
She was called ‘Vicky’ and born Dec. 19, 1951, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Ernest Edward Pennell and Betty Jo (Crain) Pennell. Vicky married Richard Lee Ross June 30, 1989 in Poplar Bluff.
Vicky was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff and enjoyed collecting fossils, growing herbs, and wood burning. She was a creative, talented artist of portraits, ceramics, and fantasy and medieval subjects. Vicky was a naturalist who loved her garden, watching wildlife, photographing birds and flowers and spending time with family and friends. She was quick-witted, funny, and an excellent cook. Her favorite show over lunch was, ‘Young and Restless’.
Vicky is survived by her husband: Richard Lee Ross and his son Lee Rayburn Ross; a sister, Barbara Jo Pennell Jenkins, Nashville, Tennessee; a niece, Rebekah Jenkins Gibbs, Nashville, Tennessee; and two nephews, Luke Jenkins, Columbia, Tennessee; and Jedidiah Jenkins, Los Angeles, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Betty Jo Pennell, a brother James Edward Pennell who died in 1983 from a heart attack. Many relatives and lifelong friends also survive.
Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
