Shirley Ann Smith

Shirley Ann Smith, 79, of Poplar Bluff, MO died July 16, 2019 at Mark Twain Caring Center.  She was born Sept. 28, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to the late Clifford Rayfield and Marie Langley Rayfield.  She was of the Baptist Faith.

She married Arvie E. Smith November 15, 1954 in Poplar Bluff, MO.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 2013.

Shirley was a nurse's aid.  She worked at Lucy Lee Hospital and Doctor's Hospital.  She was active in her church.  She enjoyed quilting, cooking, singing, and playing the piano.

She is survived by one son, Michael E. Smith, of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was one son, Gary D. Smith; one daughter, Tammy Marie Smith; two brothers, Billy J. Rayfield and Ronald Rayfield; and three sisters, Janie Reed, Ileen Pitts, and Kathleen Griffin.

A visitation will be Monday, July 22 at 10 AM at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel.  The funeral service will follow at 11 AM.  Rev. Shelvie Stephens will officiate.  Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
