Robert W. Parsons, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Thursday November 21, 2013. He was a longtime resident of Poplar Bluff. Robert was born in E. Chicago, Indiana September 12, 1935. He was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Robert enlisted in the Air Force at 17, and retired as a Master Sargeant in 1972. He moved his family to Poplar Bluff. He graduated from TRCC with an associates degree in Business Mid Management. He was a Snap-On Tool salesman for six years, and a salesman for Orgill Brothers Hardware & Supply for 20 years. He retired in 2000. He was a handyman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling. He loved classical music and history. He was a life member and past Commander of Frances Boyer Amvets Post 29 and a member and past trustee of the Eagles Lodge #3730. Robert married Jean Lourene Stickel May 22, 1954 in Hammond, Indiana. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Edward Parsons and Kathryn of Bellville, Il., William Parsons and Tracy of Rolla, Mo.; four daughters, Kathryn Skippers and Marc of Michigan, Barbara Robinson and Michael of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Helen Buller and Levon of Virginia, Connie Roberson and Kevin of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two sisters, Constance Champion and Craig of Iowa City Iowa, Barbara Hussussinn and Jacques of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, William S. Parsons and Helen Grabowski Parsons, and one daughter, Alice Kay East. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 10 to 11 AM at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, followed by a memorial service at11 AM. Rev. Annette Joseph will officiate. Burial and military honors will be at 1 PM at Mo. State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 420 N. Main St., Poplar Bluff, Mo. 63901.
