Rex Gorman, 82, longtime resident of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mr. Gorman was born February 13, 1928 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He retired from Noel Manufacturing after working as a shift manager. Mr. Gorman was a member of First Christian Church. He enjoyed golf, gardening and building models. He is a member of Sportsman Hall of Fame in Poplar Bluff for football, he also lettered four years in football, and three years in track and basketball. Mr. Gorman was an elder of his church, a leader for the Boyscouts of America, and also a lifetime Amvets member. On July 19, 1953 he married Gleta Warren. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kim Gorman of Union, Mo, and Kay Gilbreath and husband, Kenny, of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Ted Gorman of Poplar Bluff, and Jerry Gorman of Alma, Ar; one sister, Pat Gehlen of Chula Vista, Ca; three grandchildren, Robert Gilbreath of Bollingreen, Mo, James Gilbreath of Poplar Bluff, and Lee Henslee of Union, Mo; and one great grandchild, Hallie Gilbreath of Bollingreen, Mo, and many close nieces and nephews. Special sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws include Mona and John Zeikle of Higginsville, Mo, Phil and Betty Warren of Bonne Terre, Mo, and Eddie Warren of Poplar Bluff. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel (Gulley) Gorman; one son, Greg Gorman; two sisters, Wilma Wilhelm and Pauline Hinrichs; four brothers, Jack Gorman, Bill Gorman, Don Gorman, and Dick Gorman
