Novella Ruth Boyer the only child of Arthur and Dorothy Welborn of Bloomfield Missouri was born on July 14, 1926. She graduated from Dexter High School and Bluff Business College. She met the love of her life, Charles Boyer and they married November 23, 1946. They made their home in Poplar Bluff and are members of the Catholic Church. Novella was active in the Sacred Heart Alter Society and various church committees. Most recently she was on the Cemetery Committee where she helped facilitate the expansion and improvement of the Catholic cemetery. She enjoyed bowling and maintained a very high average score over many seasons competing in the Wednesday Night Keglers League, earning her place in the Poplar Bluff Bowling Hall of Fame. She used her business skills as the original proprietress of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Poplar Bluff and operated the studio for many years. Novella is survived by her husband Charles; children, Linda Counts, David Boyer, and Ellen Cates, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
