Mildred Barks

Mildred Barks, 91, of Dexter, Mo. formerly of Poplar Bluff, died September 13, 2013. She was born January 12, 1922 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Mildred was a longtime resident of Poplar Bluff. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She was a home maker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing and traveling. She married Glenn Griffith in 1941. He preceded her in death in1966. In 1968 she married George Welsch. He preceded her in 1981. In 1984 she married Robert Barks. He preceded her in 2005. Mildred is survived by one sister, Helen Williams of Dexter, Mo.; six grandchildren, Mike Griffith, Lewis Griffith, both of Illinois, Lesley Rouson, Katy Teeter, and Isabel Griffith of Missouri, and Glenda Armstead of Oklahoma, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also preceding her in death were one son, Glenn Carroll Griffith, four brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5 to 7 pm, followed by an Eastern Star service at 7 pm at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be Thursday at 10 am in the chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
