Meredith Ray Boyers, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away at 6:42pm, Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his home in rural Poplar Bluff. He was surrounded by his family, having realized his greatest wish-to take his last breath on his beloved cattle and horse farm of over 67 years.
Born May 7, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Byrd and Hettie (Sparkman) Boyers, he was the youngest of seven children, being raised up during the height of the Great Depression. He married the love of his life, Ella Jean White Boyers on April 17, 1954, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 17, 1981. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and all of his six siblings; Virginia Boyers Crites; Dorothy Boyers Dowd; Mildred Boyers Worley-Alford; Ben Boyers, Ruth Boyers and Betty Boyers Webb.
Surviving are all four children born to the marriage; Cindy Boyers; Steve Boyers (Patty); Lavah Boyers-Yelton (David) and Michelle Boyers Eaton (Shane). Also surviving are four grandsons; Matthew R. Boyers (Amber); Drake A. Dugas (Hannah); Drew D. Dugas and Daine S. Dugas. He was also blessed with four glorious great-grandchildren; Jillian Boyers; Evelyn Boyers, Vivianne Boyers and Maverick J. Dugas. Meredith also is survived by several nephews, nieces and a host of glorious friends and trail riders too numerous to mention.
Meredith was a semi-pro calf roper, back in his younger days, but remained an avid horseman, cattleman and raiser of many breeds of dogs. It was once said that the only man in a five county area that could wear out a good saddle in two years was Meredith Boyers!
Meredith was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff and a member of Mike Caldwell’s Sunday School class for many years.
