James D. Greer

James Dale Greer, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Greer was born Nov. 10, 1939 in Fisk, Mo. He was a member of the Rombauer General Baptist Church. Mr. Greer enjoyed hunting and fishing, and collecting and polishing rocks. On Sept. 30, 1960, he married Helen Appleby. She survives. Also surviving are two children; Terry Greer and wife, Tammy, and Tina Phelan and husband, Grant, all of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Jr. Greer of Rainier, Or.; three sisters, Ruby Goodrum of Poplar Bluff, Edna Cassity of Danville, Ind. and Majorie Anderson of Reno, Nv.; five grandchildren, Rev. James Greer of Rombauer, Jodie Newell of Spokane, Wash., Amy Williams of Jonesboro, Ark., Logan Baker of Lompoc, Calif., and Rusty Phelan of Poplar Bluff; and 6 great-granchildren. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. at Fitch-hillis Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James D. Greer and Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate. Burial will be in Sparkman Cemetery.
