Isom Douglas Pope

born July 4, 1953 in Poplar Bluff. He was a lifetime resident of Butler and Ripley counties. Mr. Pope was a Native American. He served in the Airforce. He worked in law enforcement. He was a member of the National Native American Law Enforement Assoc., Law Against Prohibition, and the St. Francis River Band of Cherokees. Mr. Pope was married to Debbie McDaniel August 3, 2007 in Doniphan, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bobby Carpenter, Jr. of Doniphan, Mo., Daniel Carpenter of Jackson, Tn.; three daughters, Tara Miller, Bethany Hopp, both of Licking, Mo., and Leslie Pope of St. Louis, Mo.; five brothers, Mike Pope of Fayette, Mo., Jim Pope of San Francisco, Calif., Mark Pope and Darryl Williams both of St. Louis, Mo. and Dean Million of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, Isom L. Pope and Ethyle Ray Pope, one granddaughter Ava Pope, and one grandson, Evan Douglas Pope. Visitation will be at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday at 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 12 noon. Burial will be at Ash Hill East Cemetery at Ash Hill, Mo. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 106 Farrar Suite 104, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63701.
