George W. Davis, 94, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. George was born September 28, 1920 to the late William Henry Davis and Lasarah Jane Vinson Davis. He was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff and was of the Baptist faith. He married Barbara Jean Brockman July 25, 1951 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She preceded him in death. Before retiring, George worked for Hewett Meat Packing Company as a meat cutter. He worked in the CC Camps in 1941 in Jordan Valley, Oregon. He was a member of the Singing Seniors, and he enjoyed doing puzzle books. George is survived by two sons, Paul R. Davis and George Randy Davis and Ursula, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one daughter, Patricia L. McKee of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Jean Stroud of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Laura Martin, Richard Davis, Stephen Davis and Quint McKee and four great-grandchildren, and companion Clarice Kelley. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Davis and Ralph Davis; and five sisters, Mary Boyers, Muriel Pogue, Lucille Whitmer, Verl Worley and Geneva Jeffries. A visitation was held Monday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel followed by the funeral service at noon. Rev. Linda Masterson officiated. Burial was at City Cemetery.
