Charles Jeffries, 82, longtime resident of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Jeffries was born May 4, 1928 in Mountain View, Ar. He worked in the lasting department for the shoe factory. Mr. Jeffries was a member of Midland Church. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and riding horses. On November 12, 1949 he married Dorothy Tibbs in Piggott, Ar. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Jeanne Dennis and husband Greg of Tallahassee, Al; one son, Carlos Jeffries and wife Rhonda of Poplar Bluff, Mo; one sister, Nadine Hammon of Sikeston, Mo; four grandchildren, Chris Jeffries of Poplar Bluff, Mo, Derek Jeffries of Columbia, Mo, Shane Booth of Alanta, Ga, and Jill Durham of Tallahassee, Al; and five great grandchildren, Chance Jeffries, Parker Jeffries, and Jacob Jeffries all of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Phillip McDaniel of Columbia, Mo., and John Corley of Tallahassee, Al. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Jeffries and Donia Williams.
