Carl G. McKinney, 60, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri for the last 3 ½ years having relocated from Naples, Florida, where he lived for more than 30 years. He was born in Decatur, Illinois on February 20, 1964, and passed away on February 16, 2025, at home on Main Street, Poplar Bluff.
Carl enlisted in the Air Force at age 18, at which time he learned that he was adopted. He served in the Air Force for only 2 years.
Thereafter Carl was a builder and building contractor for both residential and commercial structures. He was surely a Mr. Fixit at home, no matter the issue.
Never-the-less his real passion was for trains and railroads, building prototypical train layouts and attending model train shows around the country.
In June 2001 he met Eleanor Boyce, a widow of 12 years, who provided him with acupressure therapy. They soon became inseparable and enjoyed 24 wonderful years together until his untimely passing.
He is survived by his mother, and brother, Steve McKinney of Illinois.
Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 2, 2025, at Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all arrangements.
