Alva Lee Hodge, Jr., 74, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. He was born Dec. 18, 1938 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff. Alva was of the baptist faith and a member of Grand Ave. Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, and music as well as raising dogs. Alva lee spent many years entertaining children as a Shrine clown and Santa Claus. Mr. Hodge was a member of the Poplar Bluff Blue Lodge, Scotish Rite, Moolah Temple, and the Three Rivers Shrine Club. Alva Lee is survived by two sons, Rickey Lee Hodge of Benton, Ark., and Danny Allen Hodge of Wappappello, Mo.; one daughter Susan Marie Hale of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one sister Judith Hodge of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Hodge, Sr. and Sylvia Barriner Hodge. Visitation will be Monday, 10 to 11 AM in the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel, with the funeral immediately following at 11 AM.. Rev. Ralph Mayes will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery following the service.
