Joseph Morgan Traughber

Joseph Morgan Traughber, 37, of Essex, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, in his home.

He was born March 13, 1987, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Joseph attended Spirit and Truth Worship Center in Bloomfield.  He loved spending time with family, making knives, playing guitar, and going on family trips.  He was a dreamer of do-it-yourself projects and loved learning about Native Americans and the old ways of living and survival.  Joseph graduated Poplar Bluff high School in 2006 and Three Rivers College in 2008.  He will be greatly missed by his family.

Joseph is survived by his parents, Jim and Janis Traughber; his twin sister Jessica Traughber; and his maternal grandfather, Sherman Morgan, all of Dexter.  A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.  Joseph is preceded in death by one brother, Justin Traughber; his paternal grandparents, Marlin and Juanita Traughber; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Imogene Morgan.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Spirit and Truth Worship Center.  The gifts will be put in a special JMT Memorial Fund for a church van.  Joseph drove the church van for several years.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Sheppard officiating.  Interment will follow at Black Creek Cemetery of Poplar Bluff.  Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all arrangements.
