Helen D. Dicken, 90, of Harviell, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at
her residence. She was born Oct. 1, 1926 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to the
late John Smith and Anna Abrams Smith. She was a life time resident
of Butler County.
Helen married Roy Dicken Sept. 19, 1946 in Poplar Bluff. He
preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1988.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting.
She volunteered at the library at Twin Towers and taught crocheting
classes at the Twin Towers.
Helen is survived by four daughters, Sherry Brown of Poplar Bluff,
Dorothy Tooley of Milan, Tn., Helen Fry of Lafe, Ar., and Susan
Priest of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Carolyn McFadden of Clarkton; 20
grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great-great

daughters, Luann Bailey and Mary Carlton; and one brother Arnold
Visitation will be Friday 10:00 A.M. at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home
Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel.
Pastor Lauren Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Dicken
Dennis Ray Gilbreath, 59, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 26,
2017 at his residence. Dennis was born Oct. 21, 1955 in Poplar
Bluff, to the late John W. Gilbreath and Mary Davis Gilbreath. Dennis
was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith.
Dennis worked for the City of Poplar Bluff Street Department. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing and Black Powder Rendezvous.
He married Debra Ferrell March 4, 1990. Debra survives.
He is also survived by two brothers, John Gilbreath of Jonesboro, Ar.
and Kenny Gilbreath of Poplar Bluff; and one grandchild, Samantha
Gill of Springfield, Mo.
A graveside service will be Wed. March 1, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Shilo
Cemetery. Rev. John Crowley will officiate. Arrangements are under
the direction of Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home.
Rex Bernard Metz, 92, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died
February 25, 2017 at his residence in St. Peters, Missouri.
Mr. Metz was born October 3, 1924 in Neelyville, Missouri, the son
of Louis Albert Metz and Rebecca Jane Woolard Metz. On June 30,
1949, he was married to Violet Faye Woods. She preceded him in
death on March 14, 2016.
He was a long-time resident of Poplar Bluff and worked as a lineman
for the City of Poplar Bluff. In 2002, he and Violet moved to O'Fallon
and then St. Peters to be near family. He was and active member of
the Church of Christ where he volunteered for several years in the
food pantry, and he enjoyed meeting weekly with the Seniors' Bible
study group until shortly before his death.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Parker Metz, and Kaitlyn Metz,
and their mother, Barbara Metz Beckner of St. Charles, Missouri; two
nieces, Kay (Charles) Marlin of Rogers, Arkansas, and Mary Jane
"Frankie" (Richard) Gray of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and one nephew,
Steve Kimberling of Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Metz was also preceded in death by two sons - Ricky Metz and
Michael Metz; four sisters - Dora Zadnick, Betty Kimberling, Lorene
Willliams and Glorianna Metz; and one brother - Don Metz.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn
Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Rex's good friend, Ken Longar, and
Rev. Ron Beckner officiating.

Hazel Lorine Bone, 78, of Williamsville, Mo. died Wednesday, March
1, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born in
Merced, CA. March 26, 1938. to the late Arthur Hill and Odell Bishop
Hill. She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff before moving to
She was a bartender for the VFW. Hazel enjoyed watching baseball.
She was a past Aux member of the American Legion, VFW, and
Amvets of Poplar Bluff.
Hazel is survived by one son, James Deason of Poplar Bluff; two
daughters, Yvonne Hughey of Williamsville, and Amy Accinelli of
Poplar Bluff; one brother, Billy Bishop of Mark Tree, Ar.; two sisters,
Linda Hand and Barbara Bell, both of Mark Tree, Ar.; several
grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great-great

Sharon Patterson, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Tuesday, March 14,
2017 at St. Louis University Hospital. She was born October 27,
1949 in Poplar Bluff to Bertha Allen and the late William A. Endicott.
She was a life time resident of Poplar Bluff. Sharon was a member of
the Midland General Baptist Church.
Sharon was a nurses aid. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Mike Patterson of Doniphan, Mo.; one
daughter, Bobbie Jo Patterson of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Dianna
Hudgens of Poplar Bluff and Pat Werner of Warrenton Mo.; eight
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter,
Michelle Jarrell, and two brothers, Steve Endicott and Michael
Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Fitch-Hillis
Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00 P.M. Rev.
Jared Baker will officiate.
Elsie I. Lynch, 105, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died March 20, 2017, at Oakdale
Caring Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1911 in Butler County to the late
John Sisney and Edith Patillo Sisney. She was a life time resident of Butler
County. Elsie was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
She married Raymond Lynch October 3, 1931. He preceded her in death
September 4, 1993.
Elsie enjoyed reading, puzzles, and square dancing. She volunteered at the
Child Concern Center.
She is survived by a foster son, Allen Hall; one sister, Helen Roach, both of
Poplar Bluff; two granddaughters, Cindy Hall, and Jennifer (Clayton) Bates;
two great-grandchildren, Miles Pollard and Abby Bates.
Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Fitch-Hillis
Funeral Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2;00 P.M. The Rev. Ralph Mayes
will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
James Acinelli, 62, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Wednesday, March 22, 2017
at his residence. He was born August 17, 1954 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late
Oreste Acinelli and Laura M. West Acinelli. He moved from St. Louis and
has lived in Butler Co. for about a year. James was of the Catholic faith.
In 2001 he married Amy Deason in Salem, Ar. She survives.
James was a self-employed machanic. He enjoyed playing his guitar, making
model airplanes and cars, hunting, fishing, and cooking.
He is also survived by three sons, James Acinelli Jr. ( Jessica) of St. Louis,
Russell Yandell (Belinda) of Park Hills, and James Yandell of Fort Carson,
Colorado; two daughters, Jennifer Coleman of Desoto, and Lauren
McEhaney of Doniphan; one sister, Marie Liberty of Hillsbourgh, Mo.; and
