born November 13, 1920 at Williamsville, Mo. to the late P.L.
Warren and Flora Casey Warren.  James was a longtime resident
of Poplar Bluff.  He was a member of the First Christian Church.
James was an Elder at First Christian Church for 40 years, helped
start the Federal Credit Union, worked at the V.A. Hospital before
the first patient was there, worked for the Social Security Dept.
for 23 years, and was a Boy Scout leader.  James served in the
United States Army during World War II.  He enjoyed bowling,
golf, and fishing at Black River.
He married his wife, Mattie, in 1950 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  She
preceded him April 7, 2008.
He is survived by one son, Curtis Wayne Mcghee of Mt. Olive, Fl.;
three daughters, Barbara Winters of Port Angles, Wash., Diana
Clanahan of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Vicki Clement of Edmond,
Ok.; one brother, Phillip Warren of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three
sisters, Gleta Gorman of Poplar Bluff, MO., Edith Crook of
Denver, Co., Mona Zeikle of Higginsville, Mo.; six grandchildren
and three grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Tuesday, June 3 at the First
Christian Church, followed by the funeral service at 11 A.M.  The
Rev. Jeffery Hammonds will officiate.  In lieu of flowers
memorials may be made to the charity of your choice at the First
Christian Church, 1069 North Main, Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Burial will
be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ylonda Barks
Ylonda Barks,74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Friday, June 6, 2014.  of
Poplar Bluff.  She was of the Pentecoste faith.
January 18, 1958 she married Donald L. Barks, Sr.  He survives.
Ylonda is survived by one brother, Doyle Switzer of Poplar Bluff;
four sisters, Lee Oca, Evelyn Wills,and Elsie Carter of Poplar Bluff,
andVennie Biekert of Park Hills, Mo; three grandchildren, and four
great-grand children  
Preceding her in death were one son, Donald Barks, Jr. and one
daughter, Connie Marie Barks.
Visitation will be Tuesday 10-11 A.M. followed by the funeral
service at 11 A.M. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be at
City Cemetery
George E. Ray
at his home where he lived for the past 42 years.  George spent the
earlier years of his life serving in the Army during World War II and
the Korean War where he became a Staff Sergeant.  In his civilian
life he worked at various jobs and retired from the Florsheim Shoe
Company in 1975.
He married Eva M. (Reed) Ray on March 27, 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Ray, five children; Raymond Lee
Ray (Kathy) of Sherwood, AR., George Daniel Ray (Debbie) of
Jacksonville, AR., Martha Diane Collins, of Willliamsville, MO.,
Renna Jane Gordon (Tommy) of Poplar Bluff, MO., Vicki Lynn
Strode (Bob) of Wentzville, MO., and one step child, Ronald Dean
Wright (Patty) of Grandin, MO.; nine grandchildren, three
step-grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Dora Bell
(Norris) Ray, three brothers, three sisters, one step daughter, and
one grandson. Visitation 5pm to 7 pm Tuesday June 17th in the
Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. The funeral service is at 11 am
Wednesday.  Bro. Kenny Durham officiating. Burial at City Cem..
Charles, “Chuck” Sutton, 71,  of Glennonville, Mo. died Tuesday,
June 24, 2014 at his home. Charles was born June 13, 1943 to the
late Terry Albert Sutton, Sr. and Viola O’Linda Caroline Evering
Sutton. He was a long time resident of the Glennonville and Malden,
Mo. area.  He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was married to Ruth Sticht  from June 1964 to Nov. 2002. In
2004 he married Tanya King, she survives.
Charles proudly served in the United States Navy for eight years
1960-1968. Early in is life he had worked at the Colonial Federal
Savings & Loan, and Felix Hampton Realty.  As a journalist he
worked for the Journal, Press Merit, and the Delta News.  He was
later known for his work at the KMAL radio station.  Most recently
he was a web site designer for Creative Design Group.
Other than his wife,   he is survived by one son, Randal Louis
Sutton of Malden; one daughter, Terri Michelle Sanders of Olathe,
Kan.; two brothers Terry Albert Sutton Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and
Edward Henry Sutton (Carol) of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Shirley
Rodig of Arlington Heights, Ill., and five grandchildren, Emma and
Bryson Sanders of Olathe, Christopher Sutton of Malden, Havyn
Willis-King and Emma Willis of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Also preceding him in death were one sister, Caroll Sutton-Palazzolo
and one son, Cory King.
As Charles, “Chuck” was a giving person, he donated his body to

Gerri Johnson
Gerri Johnson, 72, died Saturday June 28, 2014.  She was born to
the late James Loren Allison and Katie Collins Allison on June 24,
spent her youth at the Collins store on W Hwy.
She married Donnell Johnson October 1, 1960.  He survives.
They lived in several southern Missouri locations before returning to
Poplar Bluff in 1978 to finishing raising their family.
Gerri worked at the Bank of Poplar Bluff and later years at Grecian
Steak House before retiring.  She enjoyed collecting rocks with her
husband, sewing and any type of crafts.
She is survived by one son, James Donnell Johnson and wife
Kimberly, and one daughter, Kim Johnson; two grandsons,
DustyJohnson and wife Erica, Nathan Rice and wife Selia; one
granddaughter Katie Rice; and two great grandchildren, Beckett and
Delaney Johnson all of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will be at 1 PM Wednesday at First General Baptist
Church on Main St.  The funeral service will follow at 2 PM at the
church.  Pastor Dick Murray will officiate.  Burial will be in Mt.
Zion Cemetry.
