Brenda Mae Bounds, 71, died Friday, January 18, 2013 in Poplar Bluff,
Mo.  Brenda was born April 24, 1941 in Poplar Bluff.  She was a longtime
resident.  She was of the Baptist faith.
Brenda was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting.     
She is survived by four sons, Steven J. Bounds, and Arnot W. Bounds,
both of Poplar Bluff, Dale Bounds and wife Terry of Harviell, Mo., Terry
A. Bounds and wife Jennifer of Greenville, Mo.; one daughter, Kay
Lohman and Roger Hobbs of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Wesley Ward
and wife Thelma, Butch Ward and wife JoAnn, John Ward and wife
Earline, all of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Sharon Riddle of Poplar Bluff, and
Pat Kirkley and husband Leon of Alabama; eleven grandchildren, and eight
great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Birl Wesley Ward and
Geraldine D. King Ward, and her husband James Edward Bounds.
Visitation will be Monday 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. followed by the
funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev.
Jr. Bruce will officiate.  Burial will be in Kerns Chapel Cemetery.

Viola Jones
Viola F. Jones, 72, died January 16, 2013 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  She was
born June 6, 1940  in Arkansas.  She was a lifetime resident of Butler
County.  She attended the Assembly of God Church.
Viola was a nurse and enjoyed crafting, painting and bird watching.
She is survived by one daughter, Diana Meadors of Fairdealing, Mo.; one
brother Lawrence E. Leonard of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Alice Friday
and Joyce Sue Conner, both of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Keely
Garrett of Doniphan, Mo. Graham Barker of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Olivia
Casinger of Harviell, Mo., and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence R. Leonard and
Martha Newingham Leonard; her husband Clardy Jones; and one
daughter, Denise Barker.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. followed by
the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel.  
Rev. Darryl Friday will officiate.
born September 9, 1924 in Poplar Bluff and a life time resident.  He was
of the baptist faith.
Eddie was a self employed owner/operator of Nichols Waste Disposal.  
He loved riding and trading horses.  
He is survived by one son, Michael Nichols; two daughters, Vickie Mills
and Shirley Nichols; two sisters, Bobbie Jo Waddell and Tommie
Beckham; two grandchildren, and four great-granchildren, all of Poplar
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Maggie Timmerman
Nichols, and his wife Ivy Nichols.
There will be a graveside service Thursday at 10:00 A.M.  in City
Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitch-Hillis Funeral
William F. Morlan Sr., 71 years old  of Dexter died Jan. 6, 2013.
Mr. Morlan was born Jan. 26, 1941 in Essex Mo., to parents Elza Morlan
and Gertrude Laster Morlan.
He was married to Mary Simpson Morlan, and was a United States Air
Force Vietnam Veteran.
Graveside service 10 a.m. Friday January 18, 2013, at the Veteran's
Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Lela L. Ladd
Lela L. Ladd, 92, died January 2, 2013 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Mrs. Ladd
was born in Holcomb, Mo. November 30, 1921 to Alfred and Lela Dye.  
She was a longtime resident of this area.  She was of the General Baptist
faith.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, reading her Bible, and
going to church.  
She is survived by one son, Tony J. Ladd of St. Genevieve, Mo.; one
daughter, Dewania C. Murray of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; seven grandchildren,
eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.  followed by the
funeral service at 11:00  in the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr.
Lennis "Dick" Murray will be officiating.  Burial will be in Pine City
Cemetery in Holcomb, Mo
born June 26, 1965 in Nashville, Tn.  She was a long time resident of
Poplar Bluff.  Sherrie was of the Luthren faith and enjoyed traveling,
crafting and sewing.  She was a self-employed accountant.
Sherrie is survived by her husband Jessie Hollins, her parents; Larry and
Norma Cecil of Malden, Mo., one daughter, Zoeie Hollins of Poplar Bluff;
and one brother, Larry Cecil, Jr. of Malden, Mo.
Visitation will be January 8, at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral
Home Chapel and January 9 at 12 a.m. to 3 p.m. followed by the funeral
service at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.  Burial will be at Smith
Stevenson Cemetery at Bernie, Mo.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be
made to Sherrie Cecil Memorial Fund for Children of Cancer Patients at
First Community Bank at Poplar Bluff.

Ruth Hendrickson, 101, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died January 23,
2013 in Fenton, Mo.  She was born June 22, 1911 in Gentry, Arkansas.  
She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff.  She was a member of the
First Church of God.
She was a retired nurse, working many years at Doctors Hospital.  She
owned and operated Tiny Tots nursery for nineteen years.  She enjoyed
gardening, arranging flowers, and writing poetry.  She was a member of
Poplar Bluff Pistol and Riffle Club (section of the Women's Division), the
4-H Quartet, member and president of Mo. Pacific Ladies Club for two
terms, and the RSVP Chorus and Rhythem Band.
She is survived by two daughters, Darla Starling of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and
Bonita Potter of Fenton, Mo., six grandchildren, thirteen great
granchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ancel Henrickson, her parents
James and Clara Patterson Hendrix, and one sister Opal Dare.and one
brother,Escohl Hendrix.
Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. followed by the funeral
service at 11:00 A.M. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Richard
Tripplett will officiate.  Burial will be at City Cemetery.

Don Smith
Morehouse, Mo. to Lawrence and Myrtle Maddox Smith. He was a World
War II Navy Veteran. August 24,1946 he married Anna Moore. She
Mr. Smith was a longtime resident of Butler county, of the pentecostal
faith and a member of the Cornerstone Tabernacle Church. He enjoyed
gardening, hunting and fishing. Other survivers include; two sons, Gary
Smith and Larry Smith of Poplar Bluff, one daughter, Louise Britton of
Sikeston, One brother, Bobby Smith of O'Fallon, Mo., two sisters, Erma
Wilson of Morehouse, and Dorothy Peel of Desha, Ark.; five
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
He is preceeded in death by four sisters; Janet Parker, Pansy McNeese,
Regina Yates and Lily Hughes. Visitation is 2p.m. -5p.m. Sunday January
27, 2013 at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00
a.m. Monday January 28, 2013 at the Conerstone Tabernacle Church
with the Rev. Bryan Parkey officiating. Burial will follow at the Hagy
Cemetery in Dexter, Mo.
