Linda L. Britton of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Jan.1,2017. She was born
Feb.2,1951 in Ogelsville.She was of the Baptist faith. She loved
taking care and being there for her family. Her grandchildren were
her pride and joy. She liked to bowl, swim, golf, garden, but most of
all, to watch her grand kids grow up. She liked to cook and have
family and friends over to eat and fellowship on Sunday after church.
She worked at home raising her two sons and worked for the city
water dept. for ten years.
On Feb.9,1971 she married Eugene Britton in Las Vegas. He
preceded her in death in Nov. of 2008.
She is survived by two sons;Clinton Britton and wife Michelle, and
Clifford Britton and wife Colleen;five grandchildren, Maleena, Chloe,
Parker, Colin, and Jacob; two brothers, Sherman Stratton, and Gary
Stratton,; three sisters Opal Gnocchini Jeanie Melvin, and Darlene
Pitman; and several nieces and nephews.
Linda Was preceded in death by her parents Oscar Stratton and Lear
Stratton; two brothers Eldon Stratton, and Ray Stratton, and one
sister Elsie Pankkey. Visitation will be 5p.m. to 7p.m. Wed.
Jan.4,2017 in the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Thursday Jan.5, 2017 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell, Mo. In lieu of
flowers donations maybe made to the American lung Association,

Farrell J. Raymer, 78, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. died January 3, 2017,
at his residence. Hi was born July 14,1938 in St. Louis, Mo. to the
late Luther J. Raymer and Dorothy Honnoll.
He was married to Carol Jupp Raymer. She survives.
He worked as a pressman for a newspaper.
Theresa Marie Irene Smothers, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died
December 31, 2016 at Westwood Hills Nursing Home. She was
born July 15, 1929 in St Louis, Mo.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Smothers, and one brother,
A graveside service was held at City Cemetery January 18, 2017.
Norman Leroy Thouvenin, 73, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at
Poplar Bluff Regional Medecal Center. He was born May 1, 1943 In
Posey, Illinois to the late Joseph Peter Thouvenin and Luvella Mae
Kennedy Thouvenin. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a long
time resident of Carter County. He graduated from Central Illinois
Township High School.
His wife Cora preceded him in death September 11, 2004.
He was plastic engineer at MoArk Mold Plastic Factory. Norman
enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his excise bike and watching sports
He is survived by one son, Clayton Thouvenin of Knobel, Ark.; one
daughter Teresa Whitlow of Holts Summit, Mo. and two
Visitation will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home
Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Rev. John
England will officiate. Burial will be in Military Crossing Cemetery at
Glena Funck, 81, of Desoto, Mo., formerly of Broseley, Mo., died
Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at Hillcrest Care Center. She was born Aug.
22, 1935 in Elk, Mo. to the late Doyle Forrest and Myrtle Nations
Forrest. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Ferguson. She was a graduate of Broseley High School. She moved
to St. Louis when she was twenty, then moved to Poplar Bluff in
Glena worked as an office worker at McDonald Douglas for thirty
plus years. She was active in the Broseley Historical Society. She
enjoyed doing word puzzles, was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping
and helping out other people.
She is survived by one son, Christopher Funck of Florissant, Mo.;
one daughter Christina Shelley of Hillsboro, Mo. and four grandsons.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Berlie Forrest, Bernard
Forrest, J.D. Forrest, Coy Forrest, and Oral Forrest.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at
Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at
12 noon. Deacon Chuck Lambert will officiate Burial will be at Mole
Deanna Kay Beckham, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb.
21, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was
born Dec. 19, 1947 in Ellisnore, Mo. to the late Walter Lea Kelly and
Hattie Malin Kelly. She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff. She
was a member of the Midland Church.
Deanna was married to Gary Beckham. He survives.
Deanna was a supervisor in the Environmental Service Department at
Westwood Hills Nursing Home. She enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren, playing bingo and gardening.
Besides her husband, Gary, she is survived by three sons, Jesse
Gurlen (Nikki), Joshua Gurlen, and Robert McFarland all of Poplar
Bluff; two daughters, Anita Freeman (James) and Kelly Faughn (Jim)
both of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Vernon Bell Jr. of Foristell, Mo.
and Jim Kelly of Council Bluffs, Idaho; four sisters, Vera Rogers of
Wright City, Mo., Brenda Phillips of St. Peters, Mo., Patty Wolfe of
Grey Sumitt, Mo., and Becky Boxx of Washington, Mo.; five
grandchildren, Jessie Faith Gurlen, Addison Grace Gurlen, Logan
Freeman, Zoë Jade Freeman, Daniel Faughn; and one great
grandchild, Kaidan Freeman.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Fitch-Hillis
Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will follow at 12:00 noon. The
Rev. Everett Gunter will officiate. Burial will be at City Cemetery.
