Muriel E. Bates, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died August 2, 2015 at her
residence. She was born Jan. 16, 1927 in Shirley, Ark. to the late James
Arlie Rollins and Ollie Viola Anderson Rollins. She was a longtime
resident of Poplar Bluff.  She attended Church of Christ Church.
She married William Davis Bates December 20, 1943 in Higden, Ar.  He
preceded her in death.
Muriel was a homemaker who enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and word
search.  She enjoyed watching and visiting with her grandchildren and
sisters and brothers.  
She is survived by one daughter, Ruthie Withrow; one son, Earnest
Bates both of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Janice, Shirley, and Maudie all
of Arkansas; three brothers, Lee of Ark., Leon and J.A. both of Ind.; 12
grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great grandchildren;
and was granny to many more.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by
one son, Jimmy R.Bates, two daughters Reba Prevatt, Carolyn Sexton,
and one sister, Flora and five brothers, Major, Hoover, Paul, Harvey and
Troy; one grandchild and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday August 6, 2015 at 2:30 to 3:30 PM at
Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel, followed by the funeral at 3;30 PM in
the Chapel.  The Rev. Billy Orr will officiate.  Burial will be in Memorial
Gardens Cemetery.
Muriel E. Bates
Arthur E. York, Jr., 87, of Jonesboro, Il., died August 22, 2015 at his
residence.  He was born December 4, 1927 in Corning, Ar. to the late
Arthur E. York, Sr. and Maude Burnham York.  He was a long time
resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  He was a member of the First Baptist
He married Mildred L. Jiles March 2, 1946.  She preceded him in death
Novemberm2, 2014.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.  Arthur was a
long haul truck driver.  He enjoyed wood working and being with his

grandchildren, Cassie Cohen, Jennifer York, Jennifer Dearmore, Dennis
Lee York, Jessica Thomason; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Wed., Aug. 26, 2015, at 10:30 AM at the
City Cemetery.  Pastor Larry York will officiate.   Memorials may be
made to the United Gospel Rescue Mission at 421 W. Pine Blvd., Poplar
Bluff, Mo.
Arthur E. York, Jr.
Michelle Lee Vernon, 34 of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died August 24, 2015.  
She was born October 7, 1980 in Paragould, Ar. to Harry Lee Boggs and
Dena Boggs.  She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  
Michelle was a teachers aid.  She loved being outdoors, fishing,
swimming, and being with her children.  She enjoyed playing cards with
her father.
In addition to her parents she is survived by one son, Jonathan Vernon,
one daughter, Alexandra Vernon both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and one
sister, Teresa Blancett of Hendrickson, Mo.
There will be a visitation Thursday at 5 P.M. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral
Home Chapel followed by a memorial service at 6 P.M.
Michelle Lee Vernon
Margaret (Peggy) D. Schell, 88, of Cottonwood, Az. died August 23,
2015.  She was born May 31, 1927 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Deloy
Maddox and Dena Sparkman Maddox.  She was of the Baptist faith.  
She married Homer Schell April 4, 1946.  He preceded her in death
Decmeber 23, 2011.
Margaret graduated from Poplar Bluff High School, and later she
graduated from Arizona State University.  She taught bible and home
economics at the community college.  She cared for foster children.  
She enjoyed reading and sewing.  
Margaret is survived by a son, Jerry Wayne Schell of Astoria, Or., and
an adopted son Tony Schell of Camp Verde, Az.; two brothers Jim
Maddox of Ark. and Jack Maddox of New Mexico; one sister Nancy
Morris of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and one grandchild, Kevin Homer Schell of
Astoria, Or.; and son-in-law Steve McCleve.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a
daughter, Terri Diane McCleve, a granddaughter Marci McCleve, and a
brother Deloy Maddox.
She was loved by all and will be missed.
There will be a visitation Tuesday from 9 to 11 A.M. at Fitch-Hillis
Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be at 11:30 A.M. at Sparkman
Margaret D. Schell
 Margaret Irene Christensen, 58, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Thurs.
August 13, 2015 at her residence.  She was born April 6, 1957 in Cape
Girardeau, Mo. to the late Roger Vaughn and Margaret Lorene Lancaster
Vaughn.  She was of the Baptist faith.
She enjoyed making greeting cards, drawing, and being with family.
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Christa baker, Cecile Sehober,
and Kimberly Boyd Walker; one brother, Roger Vaughn; two sisters,
Janette Baker and Greta Martin; seven grandchildren; one great
grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and her fiancée, Timothy Fears.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister,
Sharon L. Henry.
A memorial service will be held at the VFW in Morley, Mo. September
8, 2015, at 2:00 P.M.  Rev. Jimmy Griffin will officiate.  
Margaret I. Christensen
  Patricia J. Sanders, 61, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died August 31, 2015.  
She was born November 18, 1953 in Ark. to the late Jessie Daniel
Williams and Carmeleta Rushing Williams.  
Patricia was a nurses aid.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Harris of Omaha, Ark.  and Mark
Harris of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and one daughter, Karin Todd of Tenn.
There will be a graveside service Thursday 10:00 A.M. Sept. 3, 2015 at
